A Prayer for Those Being Impacted by Flooding

God in heaven, as the rains are falling once again, we cry out to you on behalf of British Columbia asking for your divine intervention and protection from further flooding.  We lift Abbotsford Mayor Henry Braun, as well as the farmers and animals on Sumas Prairie.  We pray the dikes would hold, the Barrowtown Pump Station would remain operational, and the floodwaters would be kept at bay over the next week.  Lord, we also bring Merritt Mayor Linda Brown and Princeton Mayor Spencer Coyne to you.  Grant them continued courage and strength and may their leadership encourage all those who have been displaced and greatly impacted by the floods.  May the God of comfort and peace surround them all.  Lord, we ask for stable food and fuel supplies.  May our supply lines be re-established and remain strong and, Father, bring peace to those who are fearful and tempted to hoard.  May each one love and prefer their neighbour as you have called us to do. We take hold of the words you spoke to Joshua, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”  Amen
