Lord today we lift up to you the Honourable Andrew Smith. We ask that you would increase his wisdom. We ask that you would guide him as he serves Manitobans. We pray that you would give him discernment and knowledge for direction in his many duties and tasks before him. We ask that you would fill Andrew and his family with love, health, and peace. Amen.
Andrew Smith was elected to his first term as MLA for Southdale on April 19, 2016. He is also the Minister of Sport, Culture and Heritage and is the Minister responsible for Centennial Centre Corporation, Travel Manitoba, and for Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Corporation. Andrew was born and raised in Winnipeg and, in his early years, was an active member of Manitoba’s sporting community as an amateur wrestler and weightlifter. Andrew is a graduate of St. Paul’s High School and the University of Manitoba. After university, he began his career in business development and marketing working for Stark International, a petroleum products recycling firm with global reach. For the past 6 years, Andrew has served as a senior staff member for a Manitoba Member of Parliament.
