Dear Jesus, we thank you for Hon. Doug Downey and pray that you would continue to help him in his parliamentary role as Attorney General. Give him wisdom and guidance as he serves doing his daily duties. We pray he would have your peace that surpasses all understanding. May Doug have good leadership that helps others to press forward in doing good. Help him not to grow tired of doing good and helping others. “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9) In Jesus name, Amen!
Doug was elected in the 2018 general election. He represents the riding of Barrie—Springwater—Oro-Medonte and was named Parliamentary Assistant to Finance Minister Vic Fedeli shortly after the government was sworn in. He was appointed Vice-Chair of the Select Committee on Financial Transparency on October 3, 2018; and Deputy Government Whip on November 5, 2018. He is an experienced real estate lawyer who first obtained his Hons. B.A. from Wilfrid Laurier University; M.A. specializing in Judicial Administration from Brock University; a Law Degree from Dalhousie University at Halifax; and then a Master of Laws in Municipal and Development Law through Osgoode Hall Law School. Doug is Past President of the Kiwanis Club of Orillia; Orillia & District Chamber of Commerce; and a region of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada. He was Vice President of the Orillia & Area Community Development Corporation at the time of his election in 2018.
