Hon. Doug Downey, Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte

Our Lord we are grateful for the hard work of the Attorney General and his team on behalf of his constituents and the province. We appreciate the diverse strengths and abilities  applied to this work. We ask for you to give Doug wisdom to stay in work-life balance, and to know how to manage expectations and priorities. Doug was elected in the 2018 general election. He represents the riding of Barrie—Springwater—Oro-Medonte and was named Parliamentary Assistant to Finance Minister Vic Fedeli shortly after the government was sworn in. He was appointed Vice-Chair of the Select Committee on Financial Transparency on October 3, 2018; and Deputy Government Whip on November 5, 2018. He is an experienced real estate lawyer who first obtained his Hons. B.A. from Wilfrid Laurier University; M.A. specializing in Judicial Administration from Brock University; a Law Degree from Dalhousie University at Halifax; and then a Master of Laws in Municipal and Development Law through Osgoode Hall Law School. Doug is Past President of the Kiwanis Club of Orillia; Orillia & District Chamber of Commerce; and a region of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada. He was Vice President of the Orillia & Area Community Development Corporation at the time of his election in 2018.
