Hon. Malaya Marcelino, Notre Dame

Precious Jesus, we thank You for Malaya Marcelino, MLA for Notre Dame. We thank You that this MLA, who was once an immigrant herself, so graciously advocates for current newcomers to Canada. We thank You for her desire to see them gainfully employed and integrating into this nation. We ask that You would grant her wisdom and grace as she fulfills the duties of her office. We ask that You would bless her family and keep them safe as she serves the people of Notre Dame. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Malaya Marcelino was first elected as the MLA for Notre Dame in 2019. She immigrated from the Philippines as a child with her family, who have been strong voices for improving the lives of newcomers. Marcelino served as the official opposition critic for labour and immigration, where she advocated for good jobs for newcomers and better-quality labour conditions, as well as better health care and safety for inner-city families. Prior to becoming an MLA, Marcelino was a stay at home mom and worked part-time as a business writer and researcher for a Manitoba agribusiness firm. She and her husband live in Winnipeg’s West End neighbourhood with their two young children.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
