Heavenly Father, we are thankful today for the Honourable Rajan Sawhney. We thank you for her and her dedication to her role and to our province. We ask that you would strengthen her today, empower her to do amazing things. We pray that you would bless her family, may each one of them feel your love and grace today. In Jesus’ name we pray. Minister Sawhney was elected on April 16, 2019, as the MLA for Calgary-North East and is the Minister of Advanced Education. Sawhney is a mother of four, an activist, and a senior professional in the Oil and Gas industry. Born and raised in NE Calgary, Sawhney is a first generation Canadian whose parents who immigrated from India. Rajan attended the University of Calgary, earning a degree in Economics and Political Science and an MBA. Sawhney has worked in the oil patch for over twenty years in a variety of roles in economics and business development. Prior to her election, she served as the Vice President of Business Development for Fracture Modeling Inc. As a volunteer, she has played a key role in leadership with several non-profit organizations. Rajan was recognized as a Community Builder by the YWCA for Canada 150.
