Hon. Rajan Sawhney, Calgary-North East

Lord, thank You for our new Minister of Community and Social Services Hon. Rajan Sawhney. I pray that You would give her wisdom as a new minister and that she would draw from her vast experience in the North East Calgary community. Help her to use her experience as a volunteer to initiate change and make progress in her new and important role in Government.  Bless her family, husband and children during this time.  Keep them safe in your capable hands, in Jesus name, Amen……

Minister Sawhney was elected on April 16, 2019, as the MLA for Calgary-North East. Sawhney is a mother of four, an activist, and a senior professional in the Oil and Gas industry. Born and raised in NE Calgary, Sawhney is a first generation Canadian whose parents who immigrated from India. Rajan attended the University of Calgary, earning a degree in Economics and Political Science and an MBA. Sawhney has worked in the oil patch for over twenty years in a variety of roles in economics and business development. Prior to her election, she served as the Vice President of Business Development for Fracture Modeling Inc. As a volunteer, she has played a key role in leadership with several non-profit organizations. Rajan was recognized as a Community Builder by the YWCA for Canada 150. Rajan Sawhney was appointed as Alberta’s Minister of Community and Social Services on April 30, 2019.
