Heavenly Father, today we pray for the Honourable Ric McIver, MLA for Calgary-Hays and Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. Thank You for the extensive experience he brings from business, Calgary City Council, provincial Cabinet, and many years of elected service. Ric chose Alberta as his home in 1981. He and his wife raised four children in Calgary and are now grandparents. Alongside his political service, Ric has spent more than 15 years volunteering with the Calgary Stampede and has remained involved with charitable and community causes. As Speaker, give Ric wisdom, patience, and impartial judgment. During vigorous debate, give him composure and discernment to maintain fairness, order, and respect among all members. Help him remain connected to the people of Calgary-Hays while serving the entire Assembly. Give Ric health, endurance, and wise counsel. Bless his wife, children, and grandchildren, and may his many years of experience be used with integrity and humility. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
The Honourable Ric McIver was re-elected as the MLA for Calgary-Hays in 2023 and was elected Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta in May 2025. He previously served as Minister of Municipal Affairs, Infrastructure, Transportation, and Jobs, Skills, Training and Labour. Before entering provincial politics, Ric served three terms on Calgary City Council and held several municipal leadership roles. He has extensive experience in the food industry, including owning and operating a distribution and marketing business. Ric is married to Christine, founder and CEO of the Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta, and they have four children and grandchildren.
