Heavenly Father, we pray earnestly for Hon. Sidney MacEwen, MLA for Morell-Donagh, and for his family as he carries out his responsibilities in the Legislature. Lord, give Sidney strength and wisdom as he serves the people of Prince Edward Island. We thank You for the many skills, abilities, and interests You have given him. We are grateful for his commitment to community development and for the ways he has invested in others, including coaching youth in hockey and baseball. We also thank You for the experience he has gained through his education, professional work, and service as Speaker of the House. Lord, we pray that Sidney would continue to grow closer to You each day and that You would bless his family with health, joy, and a strong relationship with You. Continue to give Sidney wisdom, courage, determination, and clarity as he considers the many issues before him each day. May he demonstrate courtesy, compassion, and transparency in his interactions with colleagues and constituents, and may You guide him in all that he does. In Jesus’ precious name we pray, Amen.
Sydney MacEwen was first elected as MLA in 2015 and re-elected in 2019 and 2023. A lifelong resident of St. Peter’s Harbour, he holds an Industrial Engineering degree from Dalhousie University and has worked in consulting, government, and the fishing industry. He is actively involved in his community through local organizations, coaching youth sports, and volunteering. During his legislative career, he has served as Government House Leader, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, and on numerous committees. In February 2026, he was appointed Minister of Housing and Communities and Minister of Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy, before resigning from cabinet in April 2026.
