Father God, I pray for Hon. Travis Toews. Help Travis to use his skills and talents to impact his community as MLA for Grande Prairie-Wapiti. Grant him wisdom and discernment as Minister of Finance for our province. I pray that you would draw near to Travis this year and that he would know you and listen for your leading in his decisions. Protect and bless both Travis and his family. Let him be a light in the Grande Prairie area and in the agricultural community. These things I pray in your precious and holy name, amen.
Travis Toews was elected and sworn in as President of Treasury Board and Minister of Finance in April 2019. Mr. Toews has been managing director and co-owner of Melbern Group, a corporate family cattle ranching operation and an oil field environmental company, since 2002. He holds a CPA, CMA accounting designation and spent 12 years in a public accounting practice prior to pursuing business interests. Mr. Toews served as finance chair for the Alberta Beef Producers and director of the Canadian Agri-Food Trade Alliance. In 2012 he received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, for contributions to Canadian agriculture and trade. A lifelong resident of Alberta, Toews and his wife live in the Grande Prairie region and have three children and seven grandchildren. He enjoys downhill skiing and fly-fishing.
