Father, we thank you so much for the Honourable Uzoma Asagwara. We pray that they would be filled with your wisdom and that you would give them insight into the unique problems, challenges, and opportunities that all Manitobans face. Strengthen them in all they do. We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Uzoma Asagwara was first elected as the MLA for Union Station in 2019, when they became the first non-binary MLA in the Manitoba legislature and one of the first black MLAs elected in Manitoba’s history. They served as the official opposition critic for health and as an MLA, passed a bill to recognize Somali Heritage Week. Before becoming an MLA, Asagwara was a psychiatric nurse, addictions specialist and community advocate. They are also a former basketball player with the University of Winnipeg and the Canadian National Basketball team.
