The Honourable Darryl Plecas was first elected MLA for Abbotsford South in 2013 and re-elected in 2017. He was appointed Speaker of the Legislative Assembly on September 8, 2017. Dr. Plecas served as the Parliamentary Secretary for Seniors to the Minister of Health and the Parliamentary Secretary for Accessibility, and also as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice. He chaired the Premier’s Blue Ribbon Panel on Crime Reduction during the 40th Parliament. He has been a member of the Legislative Review Committee, the Select Standing Committee on Health, the Select Standing Committee on Children and Youth, and the Special Committee to Review the Independent Investigations Office.
