MLA: George Heyman – Vancouver-Fairview (Demo)

We pray today for George Heyman, Opposition Spokesperson for Green Economy, Technology, and Translink and MLA for Vancouver-Fairview. We thank You that You understand MLA Heyman’s heart and soul and all the passions that motivate him and ask that You would shape and guide him that he might be a valuable tool for You in the governance of this province. We pray his eyes would be drawn to You and his heart would follow where You lead. We pray You would affect him so that he will possess ever increasing strength of character and passionate integrity that he, in turn, would affect all that he has influence over in this province and even beyond. Bless MLA Heyman with rewarding relationships with family and friends and with good health. We ask this in Jesus’ name.

George Heyman was elected as the MLA for Vancouver-Fairview in May 2013. Born and raised in Vancouver, George has lived and worked in Vancouver and throughout northwest B.C.

George was the executive director of Sierra Club BC, one of the province’s oldest environmental advocacy and education organizations. He also served three terms as president of the BC Government and Service Employees’ Union (BCGEU). In both organizations, George was a respected negotiator and a strong fiscal manager, running consistent budget surpluses.

George has been a faculty member of Simon Fraser University’s Dialogue and Negotiation program, teaching courses in multi-party negotiations and collaborative decision-making. He has guest lectured at a number of universities in B.C. and abroad, and served on advisory committees for post-graduate and undergraduate degree programs at three B.C. universities.

George is a passionate advocate in Victoria for issues facing his constituents, including education, health care, the arts, child care, workers’ rights, transit and affordable housing.
