MLA Gilles Arsenault, Evangeline-Miscouche

Hon. Gilles Arsenault

Dear Lord, there is nothing in all creation that You cannot handle. We are so blessed to know this in both good times and hard times. It is in that posture that we lift MLA Gilles Arsenault to You. Father, we acknowledge the difficult position he is in because of a decision he made that is currently being investigated. We ask that You would work in this situation in such a way that it results in blessing for all involved. May truth be spoken, grace be extended, and wisdom be gained by all. Be with Gilles, his family, and those who work closely with him. May they support him in this time of need. We also pray for those in the opposition parties, that they, too, would be fair and encourage positive and healthy outcomes. Lord, You said, “Let the one who is without sin cast the first stone,” so let us all be reminded of this. Convict us and forgive us when we attack the character and reputation of others. We thank You for the work our government officials do to provide leadership and hold one another accountable in a healthy way. May we work together in a spirit of goodwill toward the fellow citizens of our province. In the name of Christ our Lord, amen.

Gilles has found many ways to give back to his community throughout his life. He worked for nearly thirty years as a teacher, school principal, President of the PEI Teachers Federation (PEITF) and Superintendent of the Commission scolaire de langue française (CSLF). Gilles owned and operated several business ventures over the years and has chaired the board of the Évangéline Rec Centre and the Évangéline Co-op Funeral Home. He sat on Abram-Village municipal council, was Vice President of the Organizing Committee for Jeux d’Acadie, and is an active volunteer for the Acadian Festival. Gilles was elected as the MLA for District 24, Évangéline-Miscouche, on April 3rd, 2023 and served as Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Trade until October of 2024 when he was appointed as Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate Action. He served briefly as Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Artificial Intelligence and Minister Responsible for Acadian and Francophone Affairs in 2026. Gilles and his wife Leonie and their sons André, Alain and Martin call Abram-Village home.
