Dear Lord. We pray today
for the Honourable Don Morgan. We ask you to give him a boost of energy and
drive as the spring session nears a close and the challenges of the current
context impacts his constituents and the people he serves. Grant him wisdom and
spontaneity that is helpful to your cause. Bless him. Amen.
Don Morgan was born, raised and educated in Saskatoon. He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan (College of Law) in 1978 and practiced law in Saskatoon from 1979 to 1988. Between 1988 and 1992, he was chair and CEO of the Saskatchewan Legal Aid Commission and was appointed as Queen’s Counsel in 1990. He practiced law in Saskatoon from 1992 until 2007. Don also served on the Saskatoon Public School Board from 1999 to 2003, including a term as board chair.
Don was first elected to the Legislative Assembly in November 2003, representing the constituency of Saskatoon Southeast. He was re-elected in the 2007, 2011, and 2016 provincial elections. During his term in opposition, Don served as critic for Justice, deputy critic for First Nations and Métis Relations, Opposition Deputy House Leader, and sat on the legislature’s Standing Committee on Private Bills.
Since the 2007 provincial election, Don has served Saskatchewan as Minister of Justice and Minister of Advanced Education. He is currently Deputy Premier, Minister of Education, Minister of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety, Minister responsible for the Saskatchewan Workers’ Compensation Board, and a member of the caucus Legislation and Regulation Review Committee.
Don and his wife Sandy reside in the Rosewood area of Saskatoon.
