As we pray for Hon George Heyman today, we are reminded of Your word in Psalm 37:4 “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.” We are delighted he was chosen to head up this portfolio that he has shown in the past to have a such a passion for, and has worked diligently for good changes in climate change and the environment. Grant Hon. Heyman and his family much joy, peace and happiness as they celebrate the Christmas season. Thank You Jesus for answered prayer. Amen.
George Heyman was elected as the MLA for Vancouver-Fairview in 2013, and re-elected in 2017. He is the Minister of Environment and Climate Change Strategy. Born and raised in Vancouver, George has lived and worked in Vancouver and throughout northwest B.C. George served as the Official Opposition spokesperson for the Environment, the Green Economy, and Technology.
George was the executive director of Sierra Club BC, one of the province’s oldest environmental advocacy and education organizations. He also served three terms as president of the BC Government and Service Employees’ Union (BC GEU). In both organizations, George was a respected negotiator and a strong fiscal manager, running consistent budget surpluses.
