Thank You, Father, for Irfan Sabir. Bless his work as Minister of Community and Social Services in the Alberta Cabinet. May his degrees and his experience in social work and law serve him well in his current position. May his specialization in Aboriginal law, his work for a Calgary homeless shelter and his volunteer hours for Calgary Legal Guidance and Red Cross give him compassion for those vulnerable in our society. Irfan Sabir was re-elected for his second term in 2019. Prior to serving, Mr. Sabir practiced in aboriginal law at a national law firm in Calgary beginning in 2012. Previous to this, he worked as a research assistant with the Faculty of Law at the University of Calgary (U of C). He also worked with the Salvation Army for five years. Mr. Sabir has volunteered with Calgary Legal Guidance and Canadian Red Cross. He holds a juris doctor degree from the U of C, has a degree in social work from the U of C and a degree in economics from the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir in Pakistan. Born in Pakistan, he has called Calgary home since 2004.
