Father we pray your hand upon Ms. Irwin’s heart and be with her and guide her in all her duties and responsibilities. May you highlight to Ms. Irwin what is on your heart for her and give her wisdom and guidance to carry it out. May you bless her, protect her and shine your face upon her. Janis was elected in 2019 on a campaign centered around her deep involvement to the Edmonton community, and her strong commitment to public service and social justice. Prior to her election Janis built her career as a teacher, vice principal, university lecturer, and Executive Director of High School Curriculum at Alberta Education. She also builds community through volunteering for a number of organizations, including Arts on the Ave, Boyle McCauley News, Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers, Highlands Historical Society, and the Somali Canadian Women and Children Association, among others.
