Father I bring Jennifer Rice, MLA for North Coast to you, asking you to be her strength and wisdom in the work that she is doing. As she brings a calm reassurance to the people she represents, may she have the resources and support needed to facilitate recovery and stability to this area of our province. These past many months have been trying and discouraging in many ways but you know everything and how to direct our leaders. Thank you for her willingness to be a part of the solutions to the many challenges that are being faced in this province. I pray that she will know there are many who care and are praying for her. Keep her in your care, I ask in your name. Amen.
Jennifer Rice was elected MLA for North Coast in 2013, 2017 and re-elected in 2020 and is Parliamentary Secretary for Emergency Preparedness. She is a former city councillor for the municipality of Prince Rupert. Through her work with environmental non-profits and northern community groups, Jennifer has built relationships with commercial and sports fishers, tourism operators and First Nations. She is responsible for representing a vast portion of the Great Bear Rainforest, and many remote and indigenous communities. Her first-hand experiences with the Heiltsuk First Nation during the Nathan E. Stewart oil spill as well as two earthquake and tsunami evacuations were driving factors for her interest in emergency preparedness. Considering the significant seismic risk faced in B.C. and the increasing impacts of a changing climate, she believes in helping communities adapt by building resiliency.
