Thank you, father, for Joe’s dedication with more than 30 years of service to Calgary’s communities and citizens. Thank you for his heart to come against racism and reduce poverty in our province. His reputation for community advocacy granted him election as MLA for Calgary-Buffalo in 2019, and Caucus Chair and NDP Critic for Municipal Affairs. May he continue to deeply engage in the community and continue to work to meet their needs. Give him strength to persevere in these challenging days. Joe Ceci was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, representing the constituency of Calgary-Fort, on May 5, 2015. He was appointed to serve as President of Treasury Board and Minister of Finance on May 24, 2015 and is currently deputy chair of the Standing Committee on Resource Stewardship. Prior to serving with the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Ceci worked as a public policy manager with a community-based charitable organization in Calgary. Previous to this, he served as a city of Calgary alderman for 15 years. From 1988 to 1995 he worked as a community social worker with the city of Calgary, and from 1981 to 1987 he provided family counselling services for a number of organizations. He and his wife, Christine, call Calgary home.
