MLA John Yap, Richmond – Steveston (Demo)

We ask a blessing on Your servant MLA John Yap. May today he feel Your strength beneath his feet as he stands for what is right and just for our province. Protect his family as he travels and serves our Province. Give him a thankful heart. We ask this in Jesus name – Amen.

In 2017, John was re-elected MLA for Richmond-Steveston.  John has served as Minister of Advanced Education, Innovation and Technology; Minister Responsible for Multiculturalism; Minister of State for Climate Action; Government Caucus Chair; and as Parliamentary Secretary for Liquor Reform Policy to the Minister of Small Business, Red Tape Reduction and Minister Responsible for the Liquor Distribution Branch, where he currently serves.

John has served on several committees, including the Cabinet Committee for a Strong Economy, the Cabinet Committee for Legislative Review, and the Select Standing Committees on Finance and Government Services, Education, Public Accounts, Crown Corporations and Health. He has been a member of the Special Committee to Appoint an Information and Privacy Commissioner, Special Committee on Sustainable Aquaculture, and the Special Committee to Review the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. John has also been a member of the Treasury Board.

John attended the University of British Columbia. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Genetics and a Masters of Business Administration.
