Father, we thank You for MLA: Kathy Corrigan who serves the people of this province with heart. May You be her guide as she seeks to implement initiatives that benefit and will make our province an even better place. We appreciate the wisdom gained in her professional life and the rich experiences she has had along the way. May her experience in the education field enable her to carry out her role as as Opposition Spokesperson for Advanced Education with wisdom and helpful workable solutions. We realize her service to this province is not without sacrifice, so we pray earnestly that she and her family will be abundantly covered by Your protection, good health and happiness. Kathy Corrigan was first elected MLA for Burnaby-Deer Lake in 2009 and re-elected in May 2013.
She serves as Opposition Spokesperson for Advanced Education.
A strong advocate for public education, Kathy served three terms on the Burnaby Board of Education (1999-2008) and was board chair in 2007 and 2008. She has served on numerous district committees and was also a member of the B.C. School Trustees’ Provincial Council.
Kathy is a lawyer and public policy researcher by profession. She has also edited a legal journal and has written about privatization and trade agreements.
As a longtime community volunteer, Kathy has served on parent advisory committees, the Burnaby Minor Hockey Association, the Burnaby and New Westminster Ringette Association, the Lakeside Advisory Board and other organizations.
She and husband Derek Corrigan have lived in Burnaby since 1977. They have four grown children.
