Lord, we thank You for MLA: Marc Dalton and for the skills and experience he brings to his role in government and to the people he serves. Give him fresh insights into the issues he faces in his role as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Education for the Independent School Sector. Multiply his time, renew his energy and strength and grant him favor with the many people he meets and works with each day. Grant him safety in his travels. May this Christmas be a time of refreshing for him and his family. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
Marc Dalton was re-elected as MLA for Maple Ridge-Mission on May 14, 2013.
Marc was appointed Deputy Chair, Committee of the Whole in June 2013 and currently serves as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Education for the Independent School Sector. He is a member of the Cabinet Committee on Secure Tomorrow.
Previously, Marc served as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Education for Independent Schools, and as a member of the Families First Cabinet Committee. He was also a member of the Select Standing Committees on Education, Aboriginal Affairs and Children and Youth, as well as the Special Committee to Review the Freedom of Information and Privacy Act.
Since being elected, Marc has been on the political steering committee for Experience The Fraser, a visionary trails and tourism project for both sides of the Fraser between Hope and the ocean.
Before being elected to the Legislative Assembly, Marc worked as a long-time teacher in the Maple Ridge School District at both the elementary and high school levels. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in French and History and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, both from SFU.
Raised in a military family, he lived in bases across the country and served in the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves after graduating. He is a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Maple Ridge.
Marc is Aboriginal (Metis) and speaks French. He has represented British Columbia at the Ministerial Conference on the Canadian Francophonie.
He is a resident of Maple Ridge and has been married to his wife, Marlene, for 27 years. They have three grown children, Justin, Simone and Hannah.
