Heavenly Father, please bless Matthew and his responsibilities as the leader of the Green Party, and help him in his responsibility to keep the government accountable in all matters concerning the welfare of Islanders. Keep him from being influenced by pride and ambition, but rather help him to humbly serve his district and province. May he trust not merely in human wisdom, but in the God who gives divine wisdom liberally to all who ask. Draw him to Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour, in whom all authority in heaven and on earth resides. Amen!
A lifelong resident of the South Shore area, Matt MacFarlane has extensive experience in law, community service, and advocacy. He has served as Co-Chair of the South Shore Health and Wellness Centre and President of the Atlantic branch of the Kidney Foundation of Canada, helping improve healthcare access and establish a provincial renal clinic at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Matt holds a Bachelor of Arts from UPEI and a law degree from the University of Ottawa. After working as an advisor in the Senate of Canada and the Department of Foreign Affairs, he returned to PEI and has practised law for 20 years. He has also served numerous community and non-profit organizations in the areas of health, environment, and business. Matt lives in Augustine Cove with his wife, Johanna.
