Lord, Matthew MacFarlane serves the riding of Borden–Kinkora and is the leader of the third party. We pray for him, Lord, in the following ways: We pray that You would guide him and keep him as he carries out his daily duties in serving the people of Prince Edward Island in various ways. His background, Lord, prepares him for the responsibilities he has taken on, which include reviewing many critical areas for this province, such as Education and Economic Growth, Health and Social Services, Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, Public Accounts, and others. Father, we pray that You would give Matthew wisdom and strength as he serves in his various capacities, and that he would treat all those he meets with kindness, helpfulness, integrity, and sincerity. We pray, Lord, that he would grow closer to You each day and that his family would remain healthy and at peace, no matter the circumstances. In Jesus’ precious name we pray. Amen.
Matt has been a lifelong resident of the South Shore area. He is Co-Chair for the South Shore Health and Wellness Centre and President of the Atlantic branch of the Kidney Foundation of Canada. His efforts secured improved access to healthcare in the district and helped establish a much-needed provincial renal clinic at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Matt received his Bachelor of Arts degree (Political Studies) from UPEI in 1997 and his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Ottawa in 2000. Matt then worked as an advisor in the Senate of Canada and the Department of Foreign affairs before returning to PEI where he has maintained a general law practice for twenty years with clients throughout Prince Edward Island. Matt is committed to giving back to the community, regularly donating his time to various community organizations in the areas of health, the environment, and business sectors. He has served on the executive of provincial, regional and national non-profit boards of directors. Matt was born and raised in DeSable and currently lives in Augustine Cove with his wife Johanna.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
