Father, today we bring Michelle Stilwell, member for Parksville-Qualicum before you. We thank you for Michelle’s passion to serve our province and her ongoing advocacy for persons with disabilities. Continue to strengthen Michelle in body and spirit and she carries out her duties as MLA. We also speak blessing on Michelle’s husband Mark and son Kai. Amen.
Michelle Stilwell was re-elected MLA for Parksville-Qualicum in 2017.
Michelle has served as Minister of Social Development and Social Innovation, Government Caucus Chair, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Health for Seniors, and was a member of the Cabinet Committee on Secure Tomorrow as well as the Treasury Board.
Before being elected to the Legislative Assembly, Michelle was a motivational speaker and community advocate for persons with disabilities and children with special needs. She was also an ambassador for ActNow BC and the Rick Hansen Foundation, and worked on the B.C. Government’s 10 by 10 Challenge to increase employment for persons with disabilities.
In 2012, Michelle was presented with the first key to the City of Parksville and was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
Michelle is a six-time Paralympic gold medalist in both basketball and track, nine-time World Champion, and the world record holder in the 100m, 200m and 800m events in the T52 class.
Michelle graduated from the University of Calgary in 1999 with a science degree and moved to Oceanside in 2001, where she lives with her husband Mark and son Kai.
