MLA Rachel Notley, Edmonton-Strathcona

Lord, we thank you that Rachel is a sharp, discerning business woman with a heart for the political arena. We thank you for the abilities and gifts you have placed within her, Father. Help her do her duties as Opposition Leader is a manner worthy of you with grace to communicate, lead, serve and direct. Surround her with Godly counsel. Renew her strength in these difficult times. Give her ideas and solutions for economic relief and Alberta’s recovery. We pray she would continue to advocate and be a voice for the protection of the community she serves. We ask for your protection and your peace for her and her family. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

Rachel Notley was elected to represent Edmonton-Strathcona in 2008, 2012, 2015 and again in 2019. She was sworn in as the province’s 17th Premier on May 24, 2015, a position she held until the 2019 election. She grew up in Fairview, Alberta, and is the daughter of former Alberta ND leader Grant Notley. Rachel holds a bachelor of arts in political science from the University of Alberta, and a law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School. She has worked for a variety of labour unions in both Alberta and British Columbia and served as a ministerial advisor to British Columbia’s Attorney General in the 1990s. Rachel’s work during her legal career focused on labour law, workers’ compensation advocacy and workplace health and safety issues. Rachel lives in Edmonton with her husband Lou and their two children.
