Heavenly Father, we give you thanks for Abbotsford-Mission MLA Simon Gibson in his faithful service to the province and in his riding. Grant him your wisdom, discernment, strength, grace and mercy as he goes about his activities. Simon Gibson was elected as MLA for Abbotsford-Mission 2013 and re-elected MLA in 2017.
He served as the Parliamentary Secretary for Independent Schools to the Minister of Education, and was a member of Treasury Board and the Pacific Northwest Economic Region Committee. He has been a member of the Select Standing Committees on Public Accounts, Finance and Government Services, and Education.
Simon has been a resident of the Fraser Valley since 1976 and has lived in the Abbotsford-Mission riding for over 14 years. He taught at the University of the Fraser Valley School of Business, specializing in Human Resources Management, Entrepreneurship and Marketing. He previously taught professional communications at Trinity Western University and Douglas College. He has led workshops for the BC Police Academy (Justice Institute of BC) and Western Washington University.
Simon is a graduate of four universities, with degrees including an honours degree in journalism from Carleton University in Ottawa and a Ph.D. from Simon Fraser University in education, specifically curriculum theory and implementation.
Simon is married to Joy, his wife of 40 years, and they have two adult daughters and three grandsons.
