MLA Tom Shypitka, Kootenay East

Lord, we ask you to be with Tim Shypitka, LIB MLA for East Kootenay. Thank you for his years of contribution to his community and his dedication to serving British Columbia and the residents of East Kootenay. May he know your blessing as he serves in this role. We pray that he will have times of refreshing. Bless his family, encourage him in his personal life separate from his role, so he will have the strength necessary to representative the citizens of British Columbia. May he be encouraged to know that many in this province are praying for him. We ask this in your name, amen.

Tom Shypitka was elected MLA for Kootenay East in 2017 and re-elected in 2020. He currently serves as the Official Opposition critic for Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation. Prior to his election, Tom was a financial advisor and served as a Cranbrook city councillor, director of the East Kootenay Regional District and hospital board, as well as vice chair of the Central East Kootenay Community Directed Funds Committee and chair of the Cranbrook in motion committee. Tom enjoys volunteering his time working with several health-based local charities, coaching minor baseball, soccer, and curling. He is an avid curler and is a three time provincial champion at the national level, playing at the Brier twice and narrowly missing the opportunity to represent Canada at the Olympics. Tom is married and has three children.
