Lord, we bring Your servant Bhutila Karpoche before You today. She has answered your call to serve the people of Ontario. As the Party Whip and the Critic of Mental Health and Addictions she has important issues and people to deal with. Lord, left to her vantage point, knowledge, and experience she will flounder, but in Jesus name, we are praying for supernatural Spirit-anointed wisdom and direction. Lord, fill her with Your wisdom we are asking in Jesus name. May she be Your instrument and Your vessel to further Your glory and presence in the province of Ontario. Set her apart for Your use, oh Lord Jesus. Equip, empower, and use her. Flow into her and through her, Lord Jesus we pray. Amen.
In June 2018, Bhutila made history by becoming the first person of Tibetan heritage to be elected to public office in North America. Bhutila is active on issues around social justice and public health and is a longtime advocate of affordable housing, workers’ rights, and public healthcare. An epidemiologist by training, Bhutila is a public health researcher focusing on the social determinants of health. She holds degrees from the University of British Columbia and the University of Toronto and is a Ph.D. candidate in public health policy at Ryerson University. Bhutila is a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal.
