Lord, your mercies are new every morning—great is your faithfulness! We thank you for your faithfulness in the life of MPP Bhutila Karpoche. Please bless her beyond measure in her work for the people in the diverse Toronto riding of Parkdale—High Park. We pray that as she goes about her duties, that your strength and grace would uphold her. Bless her young family also as they support her in the role you have placed her in. In June 2018, Bhutila made history by becoming the first person of Tibetan heritage to be elected to public office in North America. Bhutila is active on issues around social justice and public health and is a longtime advocate of affordable housing, workers’ rights, and public healthcare. An epidemiologist by training, Bhutila is a public health researcher focusing on the social determinants of health. She holds degrees from the University of British Columbia and the University of Toronto and is a Ph.D. candidate in public health policy at Ryerson University. Bhutila is a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal.
