Father God we bring before you Gila Martow. We thank you for all the roles she plays in governement today and for her years of service to the people of Ontario. Gila Martow was first elected into the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in February 2014. Since the 2014 Provincial General Election in June, Gila is now embarking on her second consecutive term as the elected Member of Provincial Parliament for the Thornhill riding. Prior to taking office, Gila graduated from the University of Waterloo with a degree in optometry and moved to Thornhill in 1989. She has been a practicing optometrist for over 25 years and co-ran an eye clinic affiliated with Markham Stouffville Hospital with her husband, Jeff. Gila is a mother of 4 and an active member of her community serving as the past Chair of the Parents Association of TanenbaumCHAT York Region Campus and also advocating for local not-for-profit organizations such as York Region’s CNIB and Hadassah. Shortly after being elected to office in February 2014, Gila introduced Bill 181 with the purpose of improving traffic flow and reducing gridlock, an issue that affects a vast population in the York Region.
