It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Knight. Richard was the very hard working person behind the scenes who recruited prayer writers, scheduled prayers and ensured they were posted to the website. PrayBC would not be what it is without the hard work of Dick Knight. Dick came to volunteer with us after a successful career with the University of Calgary. He was a humble and faithful follower of Jesus and a lover of people. If you had the privilege of being his friend, you also had the benefit of his genuine concern for you and for those who mattered to you. Dick was equally kind and sensitive to those he didn’t know. It was not uncommon for him to be generous towards strangers because he felt it was the right thing to do. He was a strong and gallant knight.
While our hearts are broken and heavy today, our loss is not nearly as great as that of his wife Jacki, his children, grandchildren and extended family. They have lost a shining example of what it means to be a man, husband, father, grandfather and brother. We extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to them on their loss.
Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15 According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words. 1 Thes 4:13-18
