A Prayer for Unity

A Prayer for Unity

Father, we know that you love unity among your followers.
We are united in a shared belief that “there is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all, in all, and living through all” (Ephesians 4:5,6).
We are aware that the fate of our nation rests in the hands of nameless saints like us. Therefore, we are bold, confident, and united in our asking.
We ask you to raise a battalion of prayer soldiers to unite with us.
We ask you to awaken our country to its sins and its need for a Saviour. Send a wave of repentance from coast to coast through our factories, farms, schools, construction sites, military, hospitals, and every aspect of Canadian life.
We ask you to plant a love for the Bible in the hearts of Canadians. Fill our nation with a strong desire to hear and read your word take hold of Canada.
We ask that you raise up men and women, called and gifted by your Spirit, to lead, not only in our churches, but in our universities, our justice system, and our Parliament. Send us people like Daniel and his friends who remained united with one another and faithful to you despite threats.  Give us people of courage who are not ashamed to honour you publicly.
We ask for unity between the provinces and territories, and between the premiers who govern them. May each province and leader be devoted to the dual purpose of giving godly leadership and serving the needs of all Canadians equally.
We ask that love for Canada and its citizens, and a desire for godly excellence would unite our Prime Minister and the members of our Parliament.
We are mindful, as the body of Christ, united in faith that we are strong and forceful (Daniel 11:32). We are not blind to evil forces that seek to divide and destroy Canada from within and without. In the name of Jesus, our Lord, we stand united against these forces.
We affirm your dominion over Canada from sea to sea (Psalm 72:8).
Our hearts overflow with praise for you, our God, because only you, working through your united body, can perform the things we ask. Amen.
