Premier Jason Kenney, Calgary-Loughheed

Oh Lord we are thankful for our new premier Jason Kenney. Lord grant him great wisdom and understanding as he leads our provincial government. Jesus be his guide and protector from all evil and adversity. Give him great strategies to deal with the diverse problems he is facing in our province and in his constituency of Calgary-Loughheed.  Lord help him to lead this government with honesty and integrity and may You use him greatly as Your servant to lead our province forward into Your plans and purposes for Alberta.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen……

Jason Kenney was born in Oakville, Ontario. At the age of 8, his family moved to Wilcox, Saskatchewan, a small prairie village of about 225 people. Upon graduating from Notre Dame College in Wilcox, Jason went on to study philosophy at the University of San Francisco. In his early twenties, Jason returned to Alberta where his focus turned to politics. Jason began his career advocating for accountable government as President of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation in the early 90s. At the age of 29, Jason was elected to the House of Commons and was subsequently re-elected five times, most recently with 76% of the vote. In Ottawa, Jason joined the opposition bench serving as Finance Critic and Deputy House Leader. Under Prime Minister Harper Jason to serve as Parliamentary Secretary and as Secretary of State for Multiculturalism. In July 2016, Jason announced his candidacy for leadership of the Progressive Conservative party which he won in March of 2017. From there, he began negotiations with Wildrose leader Brian Jean, which ultimately resulted in an agreement to unite the Progressive Conservatives and the Wildrose, forming the United Conservative Party in July of 2017. The United Conservative Party won a majority government in the April 2019 provincial election.
