Dear Heavenly Father, we pray for Senator Percy Downe, one of the representatives of PEI in the Canadian Senate. He is one of several individuals in authority who have been called to help lead our country through the Senate, the institution that gives “sober second thought” to legislation before it becomes law. Senators can propose their own bills and suggest improvements to those from the House of Commons. Therefore, Father, we ask that You guide him in the following ways: May Percy serve his province and this nation with complete integrity and diligence. May he remain continually committed to our nation and province as he undertakes the important task of scrutinizing legislation that can affect the very fabric of our island and country. Grant him wisdom, insight, discernment, and balance each day as he fulfills the responsibilities entrusted to him. Fill him with love and patience for all those he serves, works with, and encounters. We also pray that Percy and his family would draw closer to You each day, and that his family would be safe, secure, and healthy. In the precious name of Jesus, we pray, Amen.
Senator Downe was appointed to the Senate of Canada on June 26, 2003 and lives in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. He is the first graduate of the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) to serve in the Parliament of Canada.
